Currently in 7th Grade

We are off to a great start to 2021 in our 7th-grade classroom.  We began reading The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer.  We’ve paired the novel up with some articles that relate to William’s story and have found ways to make connections to the text. Soon we will research other issues around the world to help make them better.  Students will be introduced to the Innovator’s Compass to plan out ideas.  Stay tuned to see what develops from this tool and our solutions!

In other news, some of us are participating in a writing contest.  We have to write a 1-page story of any genre using Book Creator.  It’s not easy to write a complete story in only a page but we are going to succeed!  The 100 Word Challenges have been a good way to practice for this contest.  We look forward to showcasing our stories later in the year.
